Monica was delighted to be awarded her prize

October’s Temp of the Month award was presented to Monica Barwuah-Manu, Guest Relations Associate at Macquarie, a global financial services provider which has been a dedicated and continued supporter of London Works since the agency’s launch in 2014.

Monica has been engaged with London Works for over a year and a half, and throughout that time has exemplified the qualities of a stand-out temp. She has been consistently diligent, professional, and communicative. London Works Business Manager Carolyn Simmonds said, “Recruitment has changed so much over the years, especially with emails and social media, yet Monica has always maintained her passion for communicating by calling the office to advise us as to where she is and what she's up to. Monica knows the whole team, she is always ready to drop what she’s doing to fulfil a client’s request, especially at short notice, and represents us with her professionalism. I would have no hesitations putting her in front of any of my clients.”

Since September, Monica has been placed at CBRE, reception services provider to Macquarie, working as part of the Guest Relations team within the Corporate Operations Group. Her main role is covering Macquarie’s switchboard, where she connects calls and gives out information appropriately.

Monica told London Works, “On a typical day I receive and connect over 100 calls, ranging from polite and professional callers to not-so-polite and phishing callers. However, I find the role straightforward and enjoy being able to use my interpersonal and transferable skills”.

She has enjoyed working with the Guest Relations team immensely over the last two months, commenting that they are “professional, client focused and committed to excellence in product and service delivery”. She most enjoys the sense of camaraderie and team spirit within the team and the organisation as a whole, and said she is “pleased to be part of a team that is contributing to global business objectives”.

Monica was surprised but thrilled and honoured to be nominated for Temp of the Month. She told us she felt “greatly privileged to be an ambassador for London Works… it is a great feeling to be appreciated in this way when I was least expecting it!”

She thanked London Works for supporting her throughout her career during the last year and a half. She told us, “I have worked for various recruitment agencies in the past and none equalled London Works in dedication of service both to clients and candidates alike. I would like to seize this opportunity to express my deep appreciation to everyone at London Works. You connect well with people – genuinely. Thanks to Nigel Irwin who worked tirelessly to find suitable roles for me. You are all great professionals but at the same time I feel like you are my extended family – always looking out for me.”

London Works is similarly grateful to Monica, who has been a fantastic temp for us in the time we have known her, and we know that the team at CBRE and Macquarie are just as appreciative. We are glad to have matched one of our strongest client supporters with one of our most dedicated and professional workers.
